An Aga Rangemaster Group company, Northland Corporation is a leading manufacturer of refrigerator/freezer systems and wine cellars. Northland offers an unparalleled combination of installation and design applications with unmatched capacity, which allows users to customize their refrigeration needs.
What began as Ranney Refrigeration in 1892, an enterprise that made ice boxes for consumers and delivered them by horse and buggy, now serves as the home for Northland refrigeration.
In 1990 the Northland division was formed to produce high-end, built-in refrigeration systems for luxury home use. Today, the company makes a variety of refrigeration units in a multitude of sizes and configurations, including top mount-freezers, all refrigerators, all-freezers, side-by-sides and wine cellars. Model widths range from 18 inches to a spacious 72 inches, and have varying capacities from 10.3 to more than 48 cubic feet—the largest in the industry.
The originator of modular refrigeration
Northland first introduced modular refrigeration to the industry in 1990, launching its modular models and bringing the concept to its current level of marketplace prominence. Homeowners, builders, architects and designers continue to enjoy this kitchen design trend and the benefits and flexibility of Northland's modular refrigeration products, which free them to create customized refrigeration centers of almost any size and configuration. For example, a refrigerator with fresh produce can be situated by the prep sink, while a freezer can be located pantry style, away from the immediate cooking area. Today, Northland still offers the most columnar refrigeration options in the industry, with four widths (18", 24", 30" and 36"), four door finishes (stainless steel, gloss black, glass and panel ready) and two interior finishes (stainless steel and arctic white aluminum).
Northland boasts a variety of other important firsts and industry exclusives as well. The company was the first to offer a full-height built-in wine cellar, and is the only manufacturer to offer center-hinged side-by-side models to create custom-opening solutions. Northland also produced one of the first metal (and stainless steel) refrigerator and freezer interiors for the home, and is the only manufacturer of a three-door, side-by-side built-in refrigerator/freezer.
Northland also holds the patent for the exclusive Power Module®, an innovation that maximizes the usable interior space to offer between 10 and 20 percent more storage capacity than other brands. The Power Module also facilitates built-in installation and servicing, which allows a model's refrigeration components to be completely removed without disturbing the cabinet.
The Northland story doesn't stop there. The manufacturer also has led its market niche by developing the first 18- and 24-inch-wide, full-size, built-in refrigeration systems; and the only built-to-order refrigeration systems.
A pattern of excellence
Northland has grown to become the premier source for custom handcrafted refrigeration systems for the home. Always first in quality and first in offering consumers cutting-edge products, Northland continues to introduce new models that appeal to a new generation of discriminating homeowners.
